'O que não nos ensinam na escola'

The project is based on a partnership with Fundação O Século, a Private Institution of Social Solidarity (‘IPSS’) whose mission is to promote and contribute to the creation of conditions and opportunities that enable the sociocultural development of citizens, particularly children and young people.

The project involves conducting financial literacy training sessions in the Foundation’s five care homes, targeting children aged 6 to 19.

The sessions are tailored to each age group and aim, on one hand, to address the main questions and concerns young people may have, and on the other, to provide fundamental knowledge in areas—especially finance—that impact their lives.

Among various topics, the sessions will cover concepts such as household budgeting, credit provision, the importance of saving, and some of the available savings instruments. The goal is to equip young people with the essential tools for a healthy and stable financial life.

At the end of each training session, evaluation mechanisms will be used. These include mock trials, educational games, and/or debates. The specific mechanism used will vary depending on the age group of the participants. The aim is that, after acquiring knowledge, the young people will be able to apply it, thereby consolidating their learning in a fun and effective way.

In a third phase, following implementation, the project will focus on gathering feedback from the training sessions in two ways. On one hand, it will seek to assess whether the training should be repeated, what difficulties the young trainees may still experience, and what further actions can be taken. This feedback will be mainly collected by the Foundation from the trainees themselves.

On the other hand, the project will evaluate the impact achieved with the target population and, at the same time, assess the autonomy and preparedness each of the researchers has gained.
